Republicans and Their Pundits are harming American Youth.

Republicans and their pundits are horrible role models for America’s young people. GOP representatives and pundits use language and promote policies that are racist, classist, sexist, violent and uneducated. And that’s only the  beginning.

This applies to elected Republicans, and professional talking heads, not the average voter. If you see a similarity in yourself, you can change for the better.

Here are the top ten reasons that Republicans make horrible role models.

It’s OK to demean women.

1. Sexism. Congressional Republicans have consistently voted against the equal pay for equal work act. Congressional Republicans have repeatedly stood against the Violence Against Women Act. They consistently pass legislation that attempts to take away a women’s right to determine what happens to her own body. They blame single mothers for the ills of society, almost as often as they blame gays, liberals, atheists and the devil.

What republicans role model is nothing more than arrogance and egotism. They attempt to disguise these regressive character flaws behind terms like ‘traditional family values.’ Their rhetoric teaches boys to disrespect their mothers, sisters and female classmates. Their rhetoric teaches girls that it is their duty to allow others to disrespect them. Their rhetoric teaches young men that they aren’t required to control themselves sexually. Their rhetoric teaches young women that if boys look at or touch them in a way they don’t like, it must be their own fault.

These are not lessons that most parents hope their children will learn. They are lessons that lead to girls and women being harmed, b y men and then again by the judicial system; and to boys and men going to prison. These are lessons that lead to lawsuits and harassment suits and personal injury suits and lost wages suits and lots of other things that aren’t good, for either boys or girls to learn.

Violence First!

2. Violence: Whether they are demanding that the United States get involved in another war, calling for the killing of Muslims in the streets, marching around like Nazis showing off their guns or threatening to kill the president, the conservative mentality seems to be one that teaches children that violence is the answer to all problems.

‘Negotiation and Diplomacy are weaknesses.’  ‘Everyone you don’t like is the enemy.’ This strategy is to be applied to people who hold different religious views, different political views, people who come from other cultures, those who have different skin colors or those who are ‘not the same‘ in any other way.

Let’s not forget that conservatives believe that the only way to deal with criminals is to kill them. Also, the only way to deal with someone who makes you uncomfortable is to kill them, under Stand Your Ground laws, another barbaric product of the conservative's shoot first and shoot last mentality.

Needless to say these are not lessons most parents would choose to teach their children.

Contempt for authority figures is a good thing.

3. Disrespect; Congressional Republicans show disrespect in everything they say and do. Disrespect for the President and members of his cabinet. They show disrespect for public workers,  fire fighters, teachers, and just about every other person of authority, namely those who most Americans try to teach their children to respect.

Republican attitudes toward the police are conflicting. If you’re talking about paying taxes to fund them, they hate the police. On the other hand, if you’re talking about militarizing them so they can kill unarmed black or Hispanic children, they can’t praise them enough.

To republicans, even our men and women in uniform are not worthy of respect or compassion. Instead they’re just props to be used in the latest production of the never ending GOP political theater. They are the first to send US troops off to war, and the last to fulfill their promises to them, once they’ve returned back home.

You don’t have to work or play well with ‘others’.

4. Racism; Most parents don’t want their children to grow up full of hate. They don’t want their kids to judge others based on the color of their skin or their country of origin. But Congressional Republicans and their pundits, consistently resort to using the Southern Strategy, a strategy originally created by the GOP to entice racist southern voters. It’s used to manipulate and divide people, by turning the races against one another.

Republican party leaders and the AM radio hate jocks cultivate a culture of fear, envy, hate and bigotry. They sell their base a distorted version of reality, full of paranoia, mistrust and suspicion. These are not traits most parents want to cultivate in their children, but the message is always there. “That guy is out to get you.” “Those people want to take stuff from you.” “Someone over there is plotting something that threatens your entire existence.”

This is right out of the Joseph Goebbeles play book

Education is for Librulz.

5. Education: Elected Republicans and their pundits seem to be strongly opposed to learning. They generally oppose public education, and specifically oppose anyone learning anything that falls outside the established guidelines of their personal religious beliefs. Elected Republican and Republican pundits openly deny science, despise math, reject facts, alter history, condemn reading and even oppose teaching critical thinking in schools. Let’s not even discuss sex education.

While GOP leaders pander to religious extremist’s demands for government enforced and funded religious indoctrination, their reasons for wanting to dumb down the populace are motivated by other factors. Promoting the idea that being educated is a bad thing, an anti-God thing, a ‘liberal elite’ thing, makes being uneducated seem appealing, especially to those who are already uneducated.

Most parents hope to see their children do well in school. They want their kids to get all A’s, and that includes getting good grades in Science and math. They would like to see their kids develop critical thinking skills. Parents also want their kids to know about STD’s, where babies come from and how to keep from getting one. Ignorance just breeds more ignorance.

Only the amount of wealth and possession determines a citizens value as a person.

6: Materialism: Stuff matters. What you need is more stuff. The more stuff you have the more important you are. People who don’t have stuff are worthless. The Right Wing model for American children is superficial, materialistic and centers on the accumulation of money and things, always at the expense of other people.

Parents have a hard enough time trying to teach their children that they don’t have to get stuff all the time. Thankfully, the “stuff phase” is one kids usually outgrow with age. conservatives, on the other hand, seem to really believe whoever has the most toys in the end wins. They appear to have never got the message, “you can’t take it with you.”

Most parents don’t want their child’s identity and sense of self worth tied up in how much stuff they do or don’t have. They hope for something better, like that their kids will turn out to be compassionate, generous, honest, kind, well mannered, that they will do well in school (see number five), become a valuable member of a community, and most hope that their kids will aspire to make the world a better place. To put it another way, greed and selfishness are not character traits that most parents hope to see flourish in their kids.

Don’t give a hoot, go ahead and pollute.

7: Environment: Just throw your trash wherever you want. (God will clean it up?) While many parents strive to teach their children to appreciate nature and respect the earth, water and wildlife, the message Republicans and their pundits send is quite different. The Right Wing philosophy appears to be, that there’s nothing about the earth in and of itself, that is valuable. If you can’t rip it up, siphon it off, drill it, frack it, mine it or exploit it in some other way, it’s worthless. Everything on earth is meant for monetary gain. If it can’t be bought and sold it has no value.

Name calling is a valid substitute for reasonable debate.

8: Less Than Civil Discourse: This is a constant. While most people would prefer that their children not call names or hurl insults at other people, Republicans, the Tea Party and their pundits have made this standard procedure for the adults in government. Debating facts and statistics or engaging in civil discourse are things of the past. If you disagree with someone, spew all sorts of verbal insults, scream over them, cut them off when they are speaking or just dismiss what they are saying as ‘lies and propaganda‘. If that doesn’t work, shout "BEGHAZI" then ignore the responses.

Never listen to the other person. Instead of thoughtfully considering other views, do whatever it takes to silence them. If someone attempts to express a point of view that falls outside the one you espouse, just shout words like traitor, commie, Nazi, feminazi, fascist, un-American, liar, anti-God, Obamabot, etc… If it’s a woman, call her a whore. If it’s a man, call him a lazy moocher, feminine and weak or just go with whatever else comes to mind. If it’s the president, you can always fall back on the n-word.

Conservative role models and heroes include the likes of Bill O’Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Chris Christie, Ann Coulter, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Louie Gohmert, and many others, all cut from the same cloth. The message is you don’t have to respect others who disagree with you. The loudest, rudest, most obnoxious person wins, not on the merits of the argument, but because they successfully shouted over opposing voices.

Honesty Is not a winning strategy.

9: Lying: One thing almost every parent wants is for their children to grow up to be honest. Republicans and their pundits, especially the propaganda networks are notorious for lying. Whether they’re lying about Obamacare, fictional death panels and guillotines, or inventing scary stories about FEMA camps and lizard people, honesty is not something Republicans have developed a reputation for.

Republicans and their pundits lie as a matter of policy. From lying to kids about sex to lying to their followers about ‘Benghazi,’ distorting the truth is a way of life for the right wing. It’s hard to keep track of all the things that Republicans lie about, from trickle down economics to President Obama’s record, not even the fact checkers can’t keep up.

Here’s a newsflash, even though republicans claim to be the ‘family values party’ (the biggest lie of all?) dishonesty is not a trait that most families value.

Say one thing, do another.

10: Lack of Integrity. The level of hypocrisy in the Republican party is amazing and appalling. Whenever a GOP politician is caught doing the exact same thing they campaigned against, the standard excuse from the GOP is ‘dems do it too.’

Democrats are far from perfect, but it’s rare to find one who ran on a platform of “vote for me, and I’ll outlaw stuff based on my righteous, feign devotion to God and the Bible.” It’s also rare to hear Democrats campaigning against other people’s supposed sins, homosexuality, drug use, their religious beliefs or some other perceived evil.

Once you’ve gone around trying to convince everyone that you’re a devoted religious fanatic who will save America from its sins, and promote "Traditional Family Values", it’s a totally different ball game when you are caught doing drugs, cheating on your wife, Patronizing prostitutes, having a same sex fling, ripping off your own supporters or doing a host of other things that are supposed to be against your own religious beliefs (the ones you tried to shove down everyone else’s throats). That’s the very definition of hypocrisy.

Integrity is doing what you say. It’s living by the same standards you seek to impose on others. Most parents hope to instill some sense of integrity in their children.
It’s time to clean house.

This is by no means a comprehensive list of the ways that Republicans and their pundits are negatively influencing the youth of America. While I’ve tried to illustrate the points, there’s no doubt that there are thousands of other examples that can easily be found, just by doing a casual Google search of any of the topics touched upon here.

Republicans are not even trying to pretend to be honest anylonger.

The NRCC has created about two dozen new fake news sites targeting Democrats, both challengers and incumbents, and is promoting them across the country with localized Google search ads.

Citing the National Journal report about the new generation of NRCC website fakeries, Dana Milbank writes:

These two dozen sites, with names such as “North County Update” and “Central Valley Update” look like political fact-checking sites; "This is a new and effective way to disseminate information to voters who are interested in learning the truth (That we completely invented)  about these Democratic candidates," said Andrea Bozek, communications director for the NRCC.

An NRCC official stated that the sites are legal because, if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you’ll find, “Paid for by the National Republican Congressional Committee” in small print. “They’re not fake Web sites,” the official said. “These are real attack Web sites.”

Real attacks, but fake news: This is a fairly accurate summary of what the GOP’s scandalmongers have been purveying during the Obama years.

"We believe this is the most effective way to present information to leave a lasting impact on voters," said Bozek, who declined to say how much the NRCC was spending to promote the sites. The online ad spending, being done by the NRCC's independent expenditure arm, must eventually be disclosed but likely only after the fact.

. . . more even than the right hated Bill Clinton, though you would have thought it would be impossible for anyone to hate anyone else more than the right-wingers hated Bill Clinton -- for no identifiable reason except perhaps that with every breath he drew, he reminded them of what useless dickholes they are..

As we know, right-wing Obama hatred has come to make right-wing Bill Clinton hatred look like a bit of gentle ribbing. And so the always-operational Right-Wing Lie Machine has been operating at fever pace all through the present administration. Remember these great moments?

• "There was the assertion that the White House was covering up high-level involvement in Operation 'Fast and Furious,' a gun program under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives that went awry. No evidence was found."

• "There was the accusation that the Obama White House pushed through money for Solyndra to pay the president's political cronies even though officials knew the solar-energy firm was going bankrupt. Didn't happen that way."

• "Accusation: Obamacare would bring about the collapse of the American health-care system and replace it with socialized medicine and death panels. No such thing has occurred."

• "The IRS scandal, it was alleged, could be traced back to the White House, which targeted Obama’s enemies for political reasons. Nope."

No, that's not what all this is about. Not even if right-wingers believed in truth, which they don't, having been taught since Lee Atwater adopted the Joseph Geobbels playbook, that reality is whatever makes you feel good to believe -- verification not only not required but frowned upon.

I guess maybe there has been a lot of progress in political vandalism since Watergate after all. Now the NRCC has a paid lackey to assure us that this fraud they're perpetrating on the public totally legal!  Thanks to Reagan, and the Bush's stacking of the courts with politically like minded flacks.
As Dana puts it:

The actual truth of the allegations doesn’t matter. Each one sullied President Obama’s name, and investigators’ failure to deliver the goods did little to remove the taint. That’s why fake news works: Falsehoods can drive a president’s approval rating into the cellar while the truth is still pushing the snooze button.

For nearly two years, Republicans have been alleging all manner of scandal involving the 2012 attacks on U.S. facilities in the Libyan city.

The accusations have been roundly debunked, most recently in military officers’ testimony released by the GOP-controlled House Armed Services Committee.

Now there’s a bipartisan report, adopted unanimously by the GOP-controlled House Intelligence Committee on July 31, awaiting declassification by the administration. It throws yet another bucket of cold water on the conspiracy theories. In a statement, the top Democrat on the panel, Dutch Ruppersberger (Md.), said the report finds that:

“There was no intelligence failure surrounding the Benghazi attacks.”

“There was no ‘stand down order’ given to American personnel attempting to offer assistance that evening, and no American was left behind.”

“The talking points reflected the conflicting intelligence assessments in the days immediately following the crisis.”

“There was no illegal activity or illegal arms sales occurring at the U.S. facilities in Benghazi.”

“And there was absolutely no evidence, in documents or testimony, that the intelligence community’s assessments were politically motivated in any way.”

If there's one thing Lee Atwater and Newt Gingritch taught their disciples, it's that the people are entitled to the lies that make them happy -- even if being happy means spending much of their time lying, hating and screaming insane nonsense.

Conservative Blogging 101. Or how to lie, and bloviate your way to pretending you are right.

Most of this is an online adaptation of Newt Gingritch's CPAC memo, Language: A Key Element of Control. Which if you study history at all, is the mainstreaming of the Lee Atwater version of Joseph Goebbel's propaganda manual.

TACTICS FOR EFFECTIVE CONSERVATIVE BLOGGING
EngageDemand an elaborate, time-consuming comparison / analysis between your position and theirs.
Entangle
Insist that the Liberal put their posts “in their own words”.  That will consume the most time and effort for the Liberal poster.  They will be unable to spread numerous points on numerous blogs if you have them occupied.  Allowing a Liberal to post a web link is too quick and efficient for them.  Tie them up.  We are going for delay of game here.
DemoralizeDismiss their narrative as rubbish immediately.  Do not even read it.  Once the Liberal goes through the trouble to research, gather, collate, compose and write their narrative your job is to discredit it.  Make it obvious you tossed their labor-intensive narrative aside like garbage.  This will have the effect of demoralizing the Liberal poster.  It will make them unwilling to expend the effort again, and for us, that is a net win.
Attack
Attack the source.  Any Liberal website or information source must be marginalized, trivialized and discounted.  Let the blogosphere know that “Truthout.org”, “thinkprogress.org”, “the nation” and “moveon.org” are Liberal rubbish propaganda.  Discredit Liberal sources of information whenever possible.
Confuse
Challenge the Liberal position with questions, always questions.  The questions need not be relevant.  The goal is to knock the Liberal poster off their game, and seize control of the narrative.  Once you have control you can direct the narrative to where you want it to go, which is always away from letting the Liberal make their point.  Conversely, do not respond to their leading questions.  Don’t rise to their bait.
Contain
Your job is to prevent the presentation and spread of Liberal viewpoints.  Do anything you must do to
prevent a Liberal poster from presenting a well-reasoned argument, or starting a civil discussion.  Don’t allow a Liberal to present their dogma unchallenged,….EVER.
Intimidate
Taunt the Liberals.  If you find yourself in a debate with a Liberal where you are losing a fact-based argument then call them a name to derail their diatribe.  Remember your goal is to prevent a meaningful exchange of views and ideas which may portray Liberalism in a positive light.  Your goal as a conservative blogger is to stop the spread and advance of the Liberal agenda.  Play upon any identifiable idiosyncrasies, character flaws, physical traits, names, to their disadvantage.  Monitor other posts for vulnerabilities you can exploit.  Stay on the offensive with Liberal wimps.  Don’t let up.
Insult their Movement
Assign as many character and moral flaws to Liberals as you can.  You must portray Liberals as weak, vacillating, indecisive, amoral, baby killers, unpatriotic, effete snobs, elitists, Leftists, Commies, sense of entitlement, promiscuous, union lovers, tax raisers, Welfare Queens, Socialists, lazy, sex-obsessed, druggies, Jesus haters, moochers, troop haters,….etc.  Always use these negative epithets when referring to, or describing Liberals / democrats.
Deceive
Identify yourself as a “moderate”, “centrist” or “independent”.  It will also cause Liberals to lower their guard a bit, which gives you an effective opening.  This may also have the effect of aligning conservative viewpoints with the real moderates we are attempting to reach.  It may serve to influence some moderates over to the Republican side.
PatriotismAlways claim the high ground of pro-military, low taxes, strong defense, morality and religion.  We own those virtues.  Learn how to exploit them when debating.  Call the Liberals weak on terrorism, it drives them crazy.  Ask them, “Why do you hate Freedom?”  Always a nebulous and unprovable question.
Smudge the Lines
Say that there is no difference between the two parties.  Look for ways to show how similar the two parties are.  Make them doubt their allegiance to the democrat party.  The goal here is to implant doubt.
Infiltrate
Inquire as to the personal lives of Liberal posters.  Get to know them.  Where they live, work, how many kids.  Call them by their first names.  This will make them tone down their narrative.  After all, you are not going to insult a trusted friend are you?  Neither will they.  If they are a powerful blogger with a sharp tongue you need to find a way to weaken their rhetoric, and nothing will do that as well as familiarity.
Demean
Always refer to the other side as “Liberals”, “Lefty Liberals”, “Libbies”.  Never assign them the status of a bona-fide political party.  Hang Liberalism around their neck like a burning tire.  Make Liberalism appear as a moral turpitude or a character flaw.  They are NEVER, NEVER to be referred to as “the Democratic Party”.  At best it is “the democrat party”.  Never assign them respect.
Opportunity
Be alert for ways to insert our catch phrases into your narrative.  You will receive your daily list of talking points and topics that we want you to cover.  Consistent, persistent repetition and inculcation will drive our talking points home and so will neuro-linguistic programming.  Stick with it and our talking points will become truth.  If they debunk your talking point, ignore it, and move on as if you didn't hear it.....
Sound familiar?
If you have ever looked at comments in political threads, or even political blog posts, you will see this played out over and over again. Often by sock puppets (Multiple accounts owned by the same person) who always back up each others points.
At no point will ANY factual information, proof, observable or otherwise will change their minds, OR their rhetoric.
SO why bother?
Because you are publicly refuting their flawed logic and ridiculous positions. It is not for "THEM" it is for anyone who might be reasonable, yet ignorant of an issue. Always be factual. And NEVER rise to their childish insults and personal attacks.
