A couple of points.
George W. Bush announced the
establishment of the Office of Homeland Security, not the Democrats,
in order to coordinate "homeland security" efforts after
the 9/11 attacks. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, assumed the
title of Assistant to the President for Homeland Security, and was
it's first director.
The Patriot act, which was proposed,
enacted and signed into law a month and a half after the 9/11 attacks
was not admittedly read by most of it's signatories. That was the
first failure.
The second came when the administration
spent months linking 9/11 to Iraq based on a single Iranian
"businessman's" intel. Facts be damned! And Congress voted
for the preemptive invasion of Iraq. That was a failure on all
levels. Of course Tom Ridge spent the next 18 months warning us that
"Terror levels were up".
Turns out it was all BS. Lies about
Iraq, Lies about Saddam's link to Al-Queda, lies about WMD's. We went
to war for no valid reason; with no exit strategy, and no tax increases to pay for it. In fact, taxes were cut, and the war spending kept off book...
The warrantless wiretapping is what
caught Elliot Spitzer. He has no ties to terrorist, nor did he make
any overseas calls. That is illegal surveillance, in violation of the
4yh Amendment, which was voided in the Patriot Act....
None of this is
good!
I have read Patriot Act. The protections are farcical. The curtailing of the Bill of Rights immovable.
In
the signing statements he included an addendum saying that he did not
feel obliged to obey requirements that he inform Congress about how
the FBI was using the act's expanded police powers.
Where was the outrage? Where was the
conservative call for investigation, or impeachment? The Repubs
impeached Clinton because he had a tumble with a consenting adult,
Bush invaded a country on a lie. Thousands dead, the country
bankrupt, borrowing from China to pay Saudi Arabia........!
These are provable facts.
This is why
Obama won in 2008. Oprah did not mean anything messianic, she said He's the
one, as in the one to do the job, the one she is endorsing.....That's
it.
Mr. Obama is not a socialist, or a Marxist or a radical Islamic, fist
jabbing, terrorist Manchurian candidate, all that crap came from RW pundits like Hannity and Limbaugh. Invented from whole cloth. No basis in fact based reality
The Rev. Wright scandal(A Muslim with a
reverend?), was brought up used then debunked by Hillary's team, but
carried on Fox News and the rest of the Republican propaganda machine in an edited loop all day long.
The anger and resentment comes from
years of being lied to, deregulating industries, and taking advantage
of NAFTA loopholes to outsource 4 million jobs, then cutting social
programs and unemployment benefits. All while cutting taxes for the wealthiest Americans.
Left a lot of people very pissed.
The idea that regulated capitalism is
socialism, that's just ignorance and fear mongering It worked well for 70 years. Lasted only 7 after those protections were removed....
The idea that liberals are inferior or
just don't understand politics or America is stupid and just plain incorrect.
Liberal is not a pejorative.
Progressives tend to be more centrist. I choose my words and my
labels with care, I am also college educated and intelligent, you
demanded that I respect your views while dismissing mine as "Liberal
brainwashing"! It is a typical Rovian tactic, dismiss the
message as unimportant or nonsense, thereby marginalizing the
messenger. It worked for years, Limbaugh does it to everyone that
disagrees with him. So if that was your intent, we need have no
further words, if it was not......
I just cannot respect organized
religion. Too many factions of the same faith, too many
interpretations and translations of the same cherry picked source
material, put together 300 years after Christ died. There is no way
to know the truth.
Too many "Men of God" use
that status as a tool to preach intolerance and hatred. To teach fear
of the unknown. Fred Phelps visits the funerals of slain servicemen
with signs saying "God hates fags" and "Fags Die God
Laughs." and "God is your enemy"
Evangelical leader Randal Terry would
like to kill homosexuals. All because the Old Testament said gays
were an abomination. So is shellfish. So is pork....
Should YOU be killed for wearing a
cotton poly blend, or working on Saturday (The actual Sabbath
according to the same book)?.
Too many preachers are hypocrites,liars
and deviants raking in donations while tweaking the words to suit
their own agenda, telling kids that they are abominations and sub
human for being gay, yet snorting coke off of a gay hookers ass in
private.
That is where that anger comes from.
Legislated discrimination is a slippery slope, the tyranny of
majority is evident here, only it's not a true majority, just a very
loud segment of that majority.
